Binhi English Literacy Foundation Inc. is an NGO founded in Manila in 2008 to help out-of-school children and students who are at risk of not completing their primary education because of the absence of learning support in their homes and their communities.  Inspired by PRATHAM, an NGO in India responsible for helping more than 21 million underprivileged children, BINHI developed the Binhi English Literacy Program.  This is an intervention tool, which aims to improve their reading and comprehension skills.  Thus achieving its vision of “Every Filipino Child in school and learning well.”
What lies at the heart of Binhi’s English Literacy Program is its English Learning Kits developed and written by Chona Colayco-Lagoutte, a graduate of Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education in New York and currently an English teacher in the American School in Paris.
